The Persimmon Pouch: a custom cover for your prized teapot

measuring your teapotThe “Persimmon Pouch” is a beautiful cover/carrier for your teapot. It is a Chinese design interpreted by Evan Draper, tea enthusiast and excellent seamster. Fabricated from high quality silk, each pouch is made to order, fitted to your particular teapot. The pouches are padded on the bottom and have drawstring closures. They can be custom ordered from Phoenix Teashop for $25.00 each, and will be shipped directly to you about a week after your order is placed. When ordering, please refer to the fabric codes below – one color for the outside and one for the inner lining. In the notes with your order, please include a measurement of the largest part of your teapot. See accompanying photo.

The pouches can also be made to fit a gaiwan, if you would prefer. Additional fabrics are available, so please ask if you have something in mind that you do not see in the fabric swatches below. Special fabrics may incur an additional charge. Please email if you have questions about fabrics or measurement; custom designs can not be returned.

Read Evan Draper’s post about the Persimmon Pouches on his blog, Pluck Tea. You can also find more individual examples of pouches that have already been made. There are additional photos of several of the pouches in this Flickr set, taken by Brandon of Wrong Fu Cha.

We also have three beautiful Chinese silk satin brocades. These three fabrics are currently on route to us from China, so you can expect a slight delay if you place an order for a pouch that uses one of them.
